2D Master Artwork

Edvard Munch lost both of his parents at a young age. Because of that, death and anxiety became central themes in his art later on. His art expresses inner feelings rather than just realistic images. He became famous after painting "The Scream" in 1893.

I chose that painting because it’s one of my mom's favorite paintings, and I have seen it often since I was a little girl. I really like the colors the artist used, and I tried to focus on the colors in the background for my ceramics 3D piece too. It’s really interesting how the painting tells a story, but it’s so abstract that everyone has to interpret what it could mean.

In my ceramics piece, I didn’t include all the elements from the painting. I mainly focused on the screaming figure and the background. I am really happy with the shape of the figure, and I think I managed to capture a little bit of the emotion in it. I also like how the pattern on the vase for the background turned out. However, I’m not too happy with the colors; they could be more accurate to the painting. I could also improve on smoothing out my piece more, as it’s still pretty sharp around the holes.

The whole project was a lot of fun and also challenging. There is still a lot of room for improvement, but overall, I’m happy with the outcome.
